Total Time: 10 minutes
Step-1 Choose your place for service
First of all, park your vehicle on open ground and remove the (-) negative cable of the battery, and only lose the wheel bolts or nuts of your vehicle.
Step-2 Lift-up a vehicle
Then use a hydraulic jack to lift up your car and mount it at the jack point, you can also use your normal jack for the lift-up that comes with your vehicle.
Now adjust the jack stand and keep the car on it (jack line) and release the pressure of the hydraulic jack so the jack will come out and keep aside.
And now remove the wheel from the vehicle and keep it aside.
Step-3 Cover your vehicle
Always cover your vehicle when you service your car because the material of brake fluid it’s harmful to your car paint.
If in case of car is contact between brake oil so don’t hesitate use high-pressure water spray on targeting area, don’t rub the oil with any cotton cloth.
Step-4 Open the hood of a vehicle
You know where is located brake fluid reservoir tank is always visible to anyone because the cap of brake fluid reservoir comes with code of “DOT3”, “DOT4”, “DOT5” so it’s quite simple for any person.
Step-5 Types of brake fluid
In the automobile industry, many types of brake fluid are available, and each brake fluid’s function is different from other brake fluids. the most common use of brake fluid is shown below.
The brake fluid is composed of a non-transcription-based fluid with different types of glycol. The brake fluid is a poly-alkaline-glycol-ether mixture called poly-glycol for short.
The Automotive Engineers Association (SAE) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) have established specification standards for brake fluids.
Step-6 Clean reservoir
This is the main thing in the whole process, the thing is the color of brake fluid is look like muddy because of dust particles so keep clean grease dust with help of cotton cloth, don’t use soap water for inside clean because it’s absorbing water in master cylinder reservoir and brake line.
Step-7 Connect hose pipe to the bleeder valve
As you can see in the picture below the connection of the bleeder hose pipe(rubber hose) to bleeder valve to pet bottle & use of bleeder valve wrench, you just fix wrench as your valve size and open anti-clockwise(not fully open).
Step-8 Pump the brake pedal
When you open the bleeder valve you should want two more helping hands one is on driving sit for pumping the brakes(brake pedal) & another one refills the reservoir with fresh brake fluid.
Now press the brake pedal fully and release and again press and repeat it while complete old muddy brake fluid comes out With this, the air accumulated in the master cylinder reservoir and brake line will also come out, this is the main reason for not braking.
With this, you have to refill the fresh brake fluid in the reservoir when you pump the brakes.
Step-9 Refill fresh brake fluid
When the old brake fluid and air come out completely through the bladder valve and the new brake fluid you can see that means your vehicle brake system.
This brake line is free from old brake fluid and air.
Now tight the bleeder valve as you like it leak-free and clean this area if oil spreads.
And pump continuously and refill fresh brake oil at the level of “HIGH” marking don’t overfill don’t keep brake fluid level “LOW”.
Listen to this process we explain to you is only for one tire side and the other three is remaining you should do same proses repeat again.
Step-10 Checking the brakes
Now it’s time to diagnose your car’s brake caliper, brake pads and overall brake system is working fine, smooth and reliable it means your brake fluid change process is complete.
If on your vehicle’s dashboard ABS warning light is glowing so don’t hesitate, do ignition 5 to 6 times on-off so the system will reboot.
Require tools for brake fluid change
-Wheel spanner
-Jack stand
-Hydraulic jack
-Bleeder valve wrench
-Bleeder hose pipe
-Pet bottle
Require materials brake fluid change
-Genuine brake fluid* (*depending on your vehicle)
-Cotton cloth
So readers we think this procedure of the brake fluid change is very understandable and now you know it how can you change brake fluid yourself and quite simple.
